15/11/2019 – Meeting the bearded Frenchman

A few of the other guys in the hostel were heading up to the top of a mountain for the sunrise over the Himalayas. I was absolutely knackered but this seemed like an offer I couldn’t turn down.

With an early alarm ringing next to my head in the early hours of the morning I questioned my decision. However once at the top of the mountain it was certainly worth it.

This was my first proper view of the Himalayas and it was breathtaking.

A quick journey back down and I was joining another Brit I’d met for a morning yoga session. Having only done 1 before back in the UK, I was a bit nervous.

It was tough. Being squeezed further into positions which were tough to get into in the first place does make you grimace but I felt fantastic afterwards and rewarded myself with a top notch health kick breakfast.

The rest of the day was spent taking in the scenery of Pokhara, getting a long overdue haircut and shave and resting up.

The next day I set off after another morning yoga session to get half way to Kathmandu. The scenery was stunning and the traffic wasn’t as bad as people said it would be (don’t get me wrong, it was still bad…).

I camped for the first time this leg in the grounds of a hotel. I had missed camping and this was the first real opportunity I’d had to get back to it.

An early start and I encountered something I didn’t think I would… another cyclist! I met the bearded Frenchman around lunchtime and we cycled the afternoon together chatting about our respective trips until we found another place to camp.

It was refreshing to be cycling with someone as I’d only done about 3 days of it so far since I left London.

With only a short morning of cycling to get to Kathmandu we were excited to get there and explore the city.
